Purpose of BTNP

BTNP exists to fill a critical gap within the mountain bike ecosystem. Many organizations successfully introduce new riders to cycling, while professional factory teams support elite athletes at the highest levels of competition. However, there is limited infrastructure supporting riders and events in the progression stage between those two levels.

Our organization focuses on advancing that middle tier of the sport by:

• Supporting expert-level and grassroots racing opportunities

• Advocating for and maintaining black and double-black hand-built trails

• Providing scholarships and entry support for developing riders

• Funding and assisting high-difficulty race series and progression-level events

• Promoting responsible trail stewardship and sustainable trail building

Black-level trails and events represent the cutting edge of mountain biking progression. They are the most complex and expensive trails to build and maintain, often ridden less frequently, and require the highest level of rider skill and safety awareness. Despite this, they remain some of the most sought-after trail experiences, and industry trends show growing demand as riders seek greater challenge and progression.

BTRNP works with supporters, sponsors, and community partners who recognize the value of investing in the difficult — helping riders push their limits while ensuring the trails and events that support that progression are built responsibly and maintained for the long term.
